In memory of Stefan Anhalt

On Friday, September 26, 2025, all friends, relatives, players, and the entire tchoukball community were able to say goodbye to our greatly respected coach, player, organizer, and—sadly—friend, father, and husband who left us far too soon.

Stefan built a large international tchoukball network, organized tournaments, served on the board of ASC Weimar, and was brimming with tchoukball passion in every respect. This made it all the more difficult for the speakers at the memorial service to find the right words. In a very dignified atmosphere, those present were able to express their grief, share moments of silence, or reminisce together.

On Saturday, the traditional 4-T’s tournament was originally supposed to take place in Weimar. However, due to Stefan’s sudden passing, the tournament was canceled. Instead, players gathered for a special memorial tournament — dedicated to the sport Stefan loved more than anything else: Tchoukball.
The day began at 10:00 a.m. with the first matches played in a 2 × 15-minute format. First, the team from Erfurt faced the team from Essen, followed by a match between Essen and ASC Weimar, who fielded a mixed lineup from their first and second teams. But on this day, the results were not the focus — it was all about the joy of playing together.

After the first matches, all players gathered in the middle of the hall — former players, youth, and active adults alike. In the classic formation of left attack, defense, and right attack, five mixed teams were formed, which then played short games against each other. The result was fair and balanced matches, free from any sense of competition — carried by mutual respect and a shared passion for the sport.

Even as the first participants left the hall, the day was not yet over. Once more, a colorful mix of players from Urbich and Weimar came together to face the team from Essen. Fourteen players took to the court with great enthusiasm for another 2 × 15-minute match. And even after that, the spirit of play was still alive: Urbich and Weimar formed up for one final duel. But eventually, fatigue and exhaustion set in, and the tournament slowly drew to a close.

Alle blicken auf einen Tag zurück, der weit mehr war als nur ein sportliches Treffen.
Everyone looks back on a day that was much more than just a sporting event. A special thank-you goes to ASC Weimar, who made this day possible. They gave us the opportunity to share our grief together for a few hours, while also putting the sport that unites us at the center — just as Stefan Anhalt would have wanted.
