Thuringian Tchoukball kicks off the 2025/26 Season

With the first matchday of the Thuringia League on Saturday, October 25, 2025, the starting signal was given for the new tchoukball season. In Erfurt, the two traditional Thuringian clubs — ASC Weimar and SG Urbich — met with their adult and youth teams.

The matches were exciting and played in a fair sporting spirit. While SG Urbich competed with its teams Fanta 7, Blue Sharks, and Blue Teens, ASC Weimar fielded ASC Weimar I, ASC Weimar II, and a youth team. Especially the games between Urbich and Weimar offered top-level tchoukball worth watching.

Beyond the results, one thing stood out above all: the sustainable youth development of both clubs. ASC Weimar and SG Urbich have been actively promoting young talent for years. This dedication is paying off — as numerous players from Thuringia regularly make it into Germany’s national squads in the women’s, men’s, mixed over-40, and U16 categories. Through this, the Thuringian clubs make a significant contribution to the international growth of German tchoukball.

Parallel to the season opener, the annual general meeting of the Thuringian Tchoukball Association took place. The goal for the coming years is to further strengthen tchoukball in the region, attract new clubs, and increase awareness of this fair and dynamic team sport.

The next Thuringia League matchday will take place on November 15, 2025, in Weimar .
